Walk/Bike To School Day is Success

Almost 4,000 students along the 50 Corridor participated in this year's INternational Walk and Bike To School Day. In 2006, just over 1,000 students participated.

Of the thirteen participating schools, Empire Oaks Elementary in Folsom had the highest percentage of students using non-motorized transportation: 78%. Cal Sundahl, also in Folsom, followed closely with 75%.

The total number of walkers and cyclists on October 3 was 3,915. Many of the participating schools will continue the walking/biking promotion with weekly efforts.
